| recycle your ears Sidhartha-Alfa moon planets Sidhartha is a project by Andrey Kiritchenko (who has also an album called "Sidhartha", released under his own name), and this CDR, produced by his own label Nexsound, is a remix album featuring new version of his track "Alfa Moon Planet" by seven other acts, as well as two remix he did with his Nihil Est Excellence project, an intro and an outro. Finally, this comes nicely packaged in an oversized heavy plastic and cardboard sleeeve. Musically speaking, "Alfa Moon Planet" is a nice and flowing electronica track, mid-paced and very clear and melodic. Written in 1999, it doesn't have the same click'n'cut aspect. The beat are slightly heavier, but the track is still a nice piece, with interesting IDM sounds. But the main point of this disc is the work by the other artist, which can more or less be divided into two categories. On the one hand, we have the (dark) ambient, with the very bleak one by Mindspawn, the two very good one by Nihil Est Excellence himself, and or yet the droney once by Knarkhora Irma. On the other hand, the other band have done more IDM remixes, that ranges from the slightly Aphex Twin-like one by The Miracle to the excellent one by Golova278 (another artist from Ukraine). Overall, some tracks really stand out (I would say the Galova278 and Knarkhora Irma mixes, as well as the two by Nihil Est Excellence, most of all the second one), and the different styles alternate well. "Alfa Moon Planet ep" is a nice little CDR, that didn't charm me as much as the "Sidhartha" album did, but who is still a pleasant and well done experiment from a talented musician. Something I am glad to have in my shelves. Nicolas, July 11, 2001 |
